Webb discovers brown dwarfs just twice the mass of Jupiter

NASA's James Webb Space Telescope has discovered brown dwarfs with masses as low as twice Jupiter's in the star-forming region IC 348, located 1,000 light-years away. These objects, with masses as small as 0.19 percent of the Sun's mass, are significantly lighter than previously thought possible, challenging existing theories about star and brown dwarf formation.
