UK needs new laws for AI in healthcare, says watchdog

Britain's Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency has released 44 recommendations to update policies as AI use rises in the NHS. The watchdog says patients will increasingly see AI in normal healthcare delivery and must maintain trust. An independent commission involving over 12,000 people, including patients and clinicians, compiled the report with proposals including patient transparency rights and continuous AI product monitoring.

Unlike most medical products we're used to regulating, these products continue to change after the point of authorization. As new data gets fed in, they learn, they adapt, they drift.
