UN Envoy, 'Quintet' Push Sudan Peace Talks in Khartoum

Pekka Haavisto, the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy for Sudan, joined members from the African Union, IGAD, Arab League, and European Union in Khartoum for a three-day mission aimed at restarting an inclusive political process. The committee held direct meetings with Sudanese governmental and civilian stakeholders to review political and security conditions and advance peace efforts.

He emphasised the importance of a negotiated settlement in attaining a complete ceasefire and long-term peace.
