India's women's hockey team, fresh from a fifth-place finish at the 2026 FIH World Cup, has departed for Japan's Asian Games with gold-medal ambitions. Forward Navneet Kaur, defender Lalremsiami Hmarzote, goalkeeper Savita Punia and skipper Salima Tete aim to win their first continental gold since 1982. The squad trained at SAI before departure, focused on qualifying for the 2028 LA Olympics.
