IISc's FSID targets 300 deep-tech start-ups by 2030, betting on patient capital

The Foundation for Science Innovation and Development (FSID) at IISc is targeting 300 deep-tech start-ups by 2030, nearly doubling its current 150 companies. FSID prioritizes giving deep-tech companies sufficient time, capital, and industry access to transition from laboratory research to independent businesses. Of 150 start-ups supported, only five have exited incubation, generating returns in the double-digit crore range. FSID focuses on value and impact over quick exits.

Returns should be a byproduct of building companies with long-term value.
