Saudi Arabia and Kuwait launch joint workshops to combat desertification

Saudi Arabia's National Centre for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification has partnered with Kuwait's Environment Public Authority to run five specialised virtual workshops in September and October 2026. Held under a bilateral memorandum of understanding, the sessions cover degraded land restoration, green belts, invasive plant management, and land degradation assessment, supporting Saudi Vision 2030 and global climate goals.

The workshops will highlight the importance of green belts in mitigating sand encroachment and showcase the Kingdom's experience in the integrated management of invasive plant species.
