Qatar Central Bank joins AFAQ, completing all GCC central bank participation

Qatar Central Bank has joined the AFAQ Payments System, operated by Gulf Payments Company, completing the participation of all GCC central banks. Three Qatari commercial banks — Doha Bank, Qatar International Islamic Bank, and Dukhan Bank — also joined, bringing total participating banks across the GCC to 74. The move aims to boost efficiency, speed, and security in cross-border payments across the region.

This will enhance the connectivity of payment infrastructure across the region and support greater efficiency, speed, and security in cross-border payments and financial transfers.
