Pierre Gasly started from pole at Monza but slipped to seventh, yet remains upbeat — Alpine knew race pace couldn't match Mercedes, Red Bull, McLaren, and Ferrari. He finished three seconds behind Lewis Hamilton and 18 seconds ahead of Arvid, noting the gap to cars ahead was smaller than the gap behind. Teammate Franco Colapinto recovered from a gravel excursion to claim ninth.
