Four Police Officers Suspended Over Custodial Torture at Kalady Station

Four Kalady police officers — two sub-inspectors and two civil police officers — have been suspended following a custodial torture complaint by Sujith Jayan, 32, a taxi driver from Sreemoolanagaram. An internal inquiry found he was illegally detained at the station from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on September 2 without diary entries or family notification. Ernakulam Range DIG Yathish Chandra issued the suspension order on Sunday.

Mr. Sujith had been taken into custody illegally and detained at the Kalady station from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. without the details being entered in the general diary or his relatives being informed.
