Three newborns killed in Amravati hospital NICU fire, 36 rescued

A fire broke out at 3.15 a.m. on August 24 in the Special Newborn Care Unit and NICU on the third floor of District Women Hospital in Amravati, Maharashtra. Three newborns died, two sustained burn injuries, and 36 babies were rescued. Preliminary investigations indicate a ventilator sparked the blaze. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced ₹5 lakh compensation for each bereaved family.
