Snake run over by vehicle gets ritualistic cremation in Kasaragod; residents plan Karnataka temple visit

A snake found dead after being run over on the Kumbla-Badiadka road in Kasaragod received ritualistic cremation with sandalwood by residents on Monday. Priests performed prescribed rites. Residents now plan a two-hour journey to Kukke Subrahmanya temple in Karnataka to complete remaining rituals, staying three days. Expected costs reach ₹25,000.

When a serpent associated with the deity is found dead, it should not simply be discarded. Instead, funeral rites similar to those performed for a person should be conducted.
