Kerala Human Rights Commission orders railways to pay ₹2 lakh to woman deboarded at midnight
Kerala State Human Rights Commission ordered Indian Railways to pay ₹2 lakh compensation to K Jayasmitha from Erumapetty, Thrissur, after she was forcibly deboarded from train 16348 on July 30, 2023, despite holding a valid reservation. Commission chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas ruled the removal wrongful under Section 139 of Railways Act. A booking error caused her ticket cancellation.
