Uber laying off about 10% of workforce worldwide

Ride-hailing giant Uber will lay off approximately 10 percent of its roughly 34,000-person workforce as part of significant organizational changes, CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced Wednesday. The company operates in more than 70 countries. Uber aims to make the platform simpler and faster while reducing coordination delays. The company is also shutting down operations in Nigeria and Uganda.

A leaner organization will mean clearer ownership, faster decisions, and more time spent building rather than coordinating.
