UN warns world will breach critical 1.5°C warming limit within years

The UN Environment Programme warned Wednesday that the world will breach the 1.5°C warming threshold agreed under the 2015 Paris climate accord within the next few years. Global action to curb greenhouse gas emissions has fallen short, increasing risks from extreme weather, rising seas, and ecosystem loss. Even under optimistic scenarios, temperatures would peak at about 1.8°C.

This is a matter of survival, not a matter of negotiation.
