Apple changes Lake Ontario to 'Lake America' on Maps, following Google

Apple has renamed Lake Ontario to "Lake America" on its Maps service, following Google's similar move. The change applies only to U.S. users after President Trump's August 27 executive order directed the Interior Department to update the lake's name in federal databases. Apple Maps users in Canada will continue seeing Lake Ontario.

In recognition of this flourishing economic resource and its critical importance to our Nation's economy and its people, I am directing that the Lake officially be renamed as Lake America.
